Board Member

Cleveland Youth Baseball & Softball Board Member

Thank you for considering joining the Cleveland Youth Baseball & Softball board. The role of the board is to oversee and implement all league operations. The board is also responsible for  ongoing health and sustainability of the league and programs.

All board members should be committed to upholding the core mission of the league. We believe all kids benefit from youth sports and continue to work to improve our program to provide opportunities for all kids in our community to have access to play baseball/softball.

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) below about board involvement. Please feel free to reach out directly to league President Ryan Kullberg, with questions.

Do I have to know a lot about baseball and/or softball?

No. For many of our positions you do not need to have any knowledge of baseball and/or softball. In fact, many of our positions prioritize skills that are applicable anywhere - including high levels of organization, responsiveness to requests and strong collaboration skills.

What is the estimated time commitment?

Board members are expected to attend the monthly Board meetings which range from 1-2 hours each. At times, a special board session will be called to discuss significant league impacts, i.e. COVID-19 response.

Each board member is also asked to either chair or support a committee or role. The time commitments vary based on what that role is, the time of year and what is needed in that role.

When are meetings held?

Board meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month. During COVID-19, meetings occur at 8 p.m. via Zoom.

When meetings can again occur in person, they are typically held at 7 p.m. at Dick’s Primal Burger’s community room in Woodstock.

What is the board term?

Terms are 1 year. They begin in October and end in September of the following year. There are no term limits.

How large is the board?

There are currently 17 board members who take on additional roles in order to ensure that the league continues to function in all areas such as:

  • financial accountability
  • player and coach development
  • field scheduling
  • equipment
  • field maintenance
  • marketing
  • sponsorship
  • uniforms
  • registration
  • team coordination
  • social media
  • Fall ball
  • events
  • umpires

We encourage your involvement in the board, as this is the only way to ensure that youth baseball & softball stay strong and thrive in our community. Board meeetings are held once a month. If you are interested in any of these areas of just want to make a difference, we encourage you to reach out.
